The Mt. San Antonio Cross Country invitational layout was a 2-miles, 100-yard course (2.06 miles).

The concluded CR was 9:45 by Thom Hunt (Patrick Henry).

October 29, 1977, Saturday, Walnut - Mt. San Antonio Cross Country Invitational - 2.95-miles

John Gerhardt (Costa Mesa) won in 14:56.3 to upset Chuck Assumma (Eisenhower, 14:57.3) to win & set a course record, obliterating the preliminary course record of 15:33!!

John’s leading splits were 4:35, 9:15!!

Jeff Nelson (Burbank) raced to victory, running the legendary 14:32.2 -smashing John Gerhardt's record by 24 seconds!

Ammar Moussa (Arcadia) tied Mercado's course record of 14:24 and led Arcadia to the team title (with 50 points).

 

*The precocious Austin Tamagno (Brea) is 4th on the Mt. Sac XC all-time freshman list, with a 15:17. As a sophomore, Austin moved atop the all-time soph list, by an astounding 7 seconds, with a sterling 14:34!!
